Taiwan Financial Sector to Adopt IFRS 18 in 2028, Move Fully to Electronic Filings From Q2
Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission plans to bring the financial sector into line with IFRS 18, “Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements,” from 2028. The move is intended to standardize income statement structures and improve the comparability of financial reports. The regulator is also promoting paperless filings to reduce processing costs and carbon emissions, affecting financial holding companies, banks and bills finance companies.
The FSC has proposed amendments to the relevant filing rules. From the second quarter of 2026, the 14 financial holding companies, publicly issued banks and bills finance companies will submit financial reports entirely through electronic file uploads, with no separate paper copies required. Firms must also complete adjustments to their information systems and reporting processes before IFRS 18 formally takes effect in 2028.
