Bitwise to Liquidate Dogecoin ETF Less Than Year After Launch

2 reports · First detected 2026-09-11 · Last active 2026-09-11

Spot Dogecoin ETFs offer investors exposure to DOGE through brokerage accounts without directly holding tokens or managing private keys. Bitwise Asset Management launched BWOW to extend the U.S. crypto-fund market beyond bitcoin and ether into meme coins. The fund’s struggle to attract inflows and trading activity underscores uneven demand across crypto ETFs, where regulatory access does not necessarily generate sufficient investor interest or liquidity for more speculative, single-asset products.

Bitwise said it will liquidate and close BWOW, with trading on the New York Stock Exchange scheduled to end on Oct. 14, 2026, roughly 10 months after the fund’s debut. Weak inflows and low trading volume prompted the decision, which the company said would help streamline its product lineup. After trading ceases and liquidation is completed, remaining shareholders are expected to receive distributions based on the fund’s net assets and their proportional holdings.

T. Rowe Price Plans to Include Dogecoin and Shiba Inu in New Crypto ETFfirst seen 2026-03-17 · 2 reports · similarity 0.70 · same topic: Dogecoin

T. Rowe Price, which manages about $1.8 trillion in assets, filed its first application for the Price Active Crypto ETF with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on October 22, 2025. Unlike most existing US products, which focus on a single cryptocurrency, the fund would be actively managed across multiple tokens. Its inclusion of highly volatile memecoins in a structure tradable through traditional brokerages reflects large asset managers' expanding push into crypto assets.

The second amendment to the S-1, filed on March 16, 2026, lists 15 eligible tokens. Under normal circumstances, the fund would hold between five and 15, including Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, with Sui newly added to the list. Anchorage Digital Bank will serve as custodian. The manager will adjust allocations using quantitative models based on fundamentals, valuation and market momentum, with the goal of outperforming the FTSE Crypto US Listed Index. The fund will initially use cash creations and redemptions.
