Samsung DX Union Challenges Unequal Bonus Allocation, Seeks Injunction to Halt Vote
Samsung Electronics' Device eXperience (DX) division covers consumer electronics businesses including smartphones, televisions and home appliances. Its union has long questioned what it sees as a compensation system favoring the Device Solutions (DS) semiconductor division. A bonus gap of more than 85-fold has fueled perceptions among DX employees of unequal treatment within the company, escalating the labor dispute.
As of July 20, 2026, the DX division's union had sought an injunction from a South Korean court to suspend voting on a wage agreement. Union membership increased by about 10,000 in a single day. Reports did not disclose the exact filing date or the actual bonus amounts received by either side. The dispute remains centered on the bonus gap of more than 85-fold.
