Tether-Backed Oobit Launches Virtual Visa Cards for AI Agent USDT Spending
Crypto payments startup Oobit raised $25 million in a Series A round in February 2024 led by USDT issuer Tether. By connecting stablecoin wallets to the Visa card network, the company aims to give AI agents auditable payment tools with configurable controls, allowing them to pay autonomously for software, advertising and cloud services.
Oobit introduced its Agent Cards to an initial group of businesses on April 30, 2026, and planned to admit a limited number of additional companies by June 30. The product is not yet publicly available. Each AI agent receives only one virtual card, with USDT supplied directly from Tether’s treasury without fiat deposits or conversion. Spending limits and merchant restrictions can be configured at the transaction layer, but Oobit has not disclosed card limits.
