Pantera Sees Crypto Infrastructure Powering the AI Agent Economy
Pantera Capital says artificial-intelligence agents could emerge as a new class of economic participants once they can hold verifiable identities, manage budgets and settle transactions autonomously. Such agents may buy data, computing power and digital services at machine speed, creating demand for payments that are global, permissionless and economical at very small values. Blockchain networks could provide both the settlement rails and cryptographic ownership needed for that activity.
The investment firm’s latest analysis highlights crypto wallets, stablecoins and on-chain identity as critical infrastructure for scaling an agent-led economy. It cites Circle, Morpho and World as projects positioning themselves across payments, credit and identity verification, respectively. Pantera did not disclose a specific investment amount, transaction forecast or deployment date, but said competition is intensifying to control the wallet, computing and identity layers through which autonomous agents may transact.
