KGI Says Student Participation in US Stocks Jumps 41.9%
Lower trading fees, digital account opening and easier access to overseas markets are drawing more young Taiwanese investors into US assets. KGI Securities’ data on its university-student clients offers a snapshot of that shift. Their choices show strong interest in high-growth technology names, while exchange-traded funds remain a key entry point for investors seeking diversification and longer-term exposure at relatively low cost.
KGI Securities’ latest internal figures showed the number of university-student clients investing in US stocks rose 41.9% from a year earlier, outpacing a 32.2% increase for Taiwan equities. More than 60% favored lump-sum purchases. Nvidia and SpaceX ranked as the two most popular US targets, while ETFs — including the Yuanta Taiwan Top 50 ETF, or 0050 — accounted for half of the leading Taiwan-market picks.
