Robinhood Raises Share Buyback Authorization to $1.5 Billion
Robinhood Markets is using share repurchases to reduce its outstanding share count and signal management's confidence in the company's valuation and cash flow. The expanded authorization comes as its shares have continued to weaken in 2026. In addition to supporting shareholder returns, the move shows that Robinhood retains room to adjust its capital allocation while continuing to invest in cryptocurrency and blockchain businesses.
Robinhood's board has approved a $1.5 billion share repurchase program, increasing the total available authorization by more than $1.1 billion. The program is expected to be carried out over about three years beginning in the first quarter of 2026. The shares fell as much as 54% during the same period. Its Robinhood Securities unit also expanded its revolving credit facility to bolster liquidity and funding flexibility.
