Anthropic Adds Opus, Sonnet and App Tools to Claude Voice Mode

Anthropic launched its flagship Claude Opus 4.7 model in July 2026, targeting complex software engineering, image understanding and enterprise agent tasks. The upgrade also highlights how Anthropic divides responsibilities across its models: its public products balance utility and safety, while its most advanced cybersecurity capabilities are reserved for Claude Mythos under controlled testing.

Claude Opus 4.7 offers three times the visual resolution of its predecessor, along with stronger coding, instruction-following and long-running task performance. It also provides a 1 million-token context window at no extra charge. Anthropic said existing prompts may need adjustment because of changes to the model’s default behavior. Mythos, revealed at the same time, is available for testing only by selected cybersecurity organizations; no public release schedule or pricing has been announced.

Anthropic launched Claude Code in February 2025, allowing developers to use natural language in the terminal to read and write code, run tests and handle tasks spanning multiple files. As AI agents increasingly work on multiple tasks in parallel, centralized progress tracking and fewer terminal switches and code conflicts have become more important. The desktop app has consequently evolved into an integrated development workstation.

Anthropic launched a redesigned Claude Code desktop app on April 14, 2026, adding a multi-session sidebar and drag-and-drop layouts. It integrates a terminal, file editing, diff views and live previews, and offers three display modes. On May 11, it also released an Agent View research preview that lets users centrally monitor and respond to background agents. The feature is available on Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise and API plans.

Anthropic previously kept memory in Claude chat separate from Claude Cowork, forcing users to repeat project details when moving from discussion to execution. A shared system is important because it turns Claude into a more continuous workplace assistant: research, planning and prior decisions made in chat can carry into Cowork tasks such as drafting management updates or conference agendas without another briefing.

Anthropic said on Aug. 25, 2026, that it was merging the two memory systems and would update saved topics while conversations are still underway. Users can inspect, edit or delete retained information. The feature is enabled by default for Free, Pro and Max subscribers across web, desktop and mobile, though iOS and Android users must install the latest app version. Sensitive details such as health, race, religion and politics are excluded by default, while government-issued identification numbers and certain other restricted data will never be stored.
