Trump Administration’s 2026 Crypto Policy Guide and Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Progress
The Trump administration has reshaped U.S. cryptocurrency policy since 2025. On March 6, the White House established a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve by executive order, placing seized BTC held by the government under the management of the U.S. Treasury. Trump also signed the GENIUS Act on July 18, creating a federal regulatory framework for payment stablecoins.
In 2026, Republicans are advancing the ARMA Act, which calls for the U.S. government to hold 1 million bitcoins within five years. Policy attention has also expanded to Trump family-backed World Liberty Financial (WLFI) and leadership changes at the Federal Reserve. Markets continue to monitor funding sources for additional purchases, the implementation timetable and conflict-of-interest risks.
