Strategy’s Bitcoin Sale May Establish a Durable Floor for BTC
Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, has long accumulated Bitcoin through debt issuance, share sales and other financing methods, making it the largest publicly traded corporate holder of the cryptocurrency. Its decision to sell BTC to fund preferred-stock dividends has therefore prompted markets to reassess its financing structure, repayment capacity and the risk of further selling pressure.
Strategy sold 3,588 BTC from June 29 to July 5, 2026, at an average price of about $60,000, raising $216 million, according to a July 6 disclosure. Its U.S. dollar reserves rose to $2.55 billion, enough to cover about 17 months of dividends. BTC fell as much as 2.4% after the announcement before recovering to $64,400, while STRC rebounded to $91.
