X Launches Cashtags With Live Stock and Crypto Charts, One-Click Trading

Cashtags on X, formerly Twitter, connects posts with real-time quotes and candlestick charts through stock tickers and cryptocurrency symbols, while also supporting memecoin contract addresses. X partnered with Canadian brokerage Wealthsimple in an effort to bring information, social discussion and trade execution onto a single platform as it expands its financial-services footprint.

After Cashtags launched in July 2026, X began piloting one-click order placement in Canada, while U.S. users could also connect to Wealthsimple to trade. The feature generated more than $1 billion in trading volume during its first two days, showing how social-media traffic can quickly translate into demand for stock and cryptocurrency trading. The service's scope and regulatory arrangements remain to be seen.
