Advantech Debuts EPYC 9006 Server Platform for AI and Edge Computing

Agentic AI is raising demand for server CPUs that can coordinate complex workloads while keeping inference costs under control. Advantech, the Taiwanese industrial-computing supplier, is expanding its partnership with AMD to push higher-density computing beyond centralized data centers and into telecom and industrial-edge deployments. The move matters as system vendors compete on processing performance, memory bandwidth, I/O capacity and total cost of ownership.

Advantech said on July 24 it introduced its next-generation AI and edge server platform at AMD’s Advancing AI 2026 event, held in San Francisco on July 22-23. The system uses sixth-generation AMD EPYC 9006 processors and supports PCIe Gen 6, DDR5 memory and CXL 3.1 expansion. EPYC 9006 scales to 256 cores and 512 threads per socket, targeting AI training and inference, high-performance computing, storage, virtualization and telecom-edge workloads.
