Bitwise Donates More Than $380,000 to Bitcoin Open-Source Developers
Bitwise launched its spot Bitcoin ETF, BITB, in January 2024 and pledged to donate 10% of the fund's gross profits annually. The arrangement channels a share of the ETF's commercial proceeds back to the open-source community, supporting the long-term maintenance of Bitcoin's core software, network security and censorship resistance.
As of July 20, 2026, Bitwise's cumulative donations to Bitcoin open-source developers had exceeded $383,000. The funds will be distributed through Bitcoin Brink, OpenSats and the Human Rights Foundation to support developers who patch vulnerabilities and maintain the Bitcoin network.
