Half of CFOs Say AI Will Create New Roles
The PYMNTS Intelligence CAIO Report examines how large U.S. companies are incorporating generative AI into their operations and workforce strategies. For CFOs, AI is no longer merely a technology investment aimed at automation, cost reduction and efficiency gains. It is also reshaping job design, hiring criteria and employee retraining, making it a major consideration in workforce planning and competitiveness.
The survey, released in November 2025, found that 50% of CFO respondents believe AI will create new job roles. Most executives also expect skill requirements to rise, while demand for some existing positions will decline. The findings reflect a new phase of corporate AI adoption, with companies moving beyond tool deployment to reallocating people, skills and responsibilities.
