Taiwan Bitcoin Hub to Hold Bitcoin Pizza Day Community Event on May 22

1 reports · First detected 2026-05-16 · Last active 2026-05-16

Bitcoin Pizza Day commemorates May 22, 2010, when programmer Laszlo Hanyecz bought two pizzas for 10,000 BTC in what is widely regarded as the first use of Bitcoin to purchase physical goods. The anniversary has also become an important occasion for the community to reflect on the development of Bitcoin payments and changes in its market value.

Taiwan Bitcoin Hub will hold a “Bitcoin Pizza Day” community party in Taipei on May 22, featuring Lightning Talks on Bitcoin and a knowledge challenge. Participants will also have a chance to receive specially designed BTC scratch cards with prizes paid directly in Bitcoin, recreating the cryptocurrency’s early payment culture through an interactive experience.
