The multinational hacking group Scattered Spider has long posed a major global cybersecurity threat, targeting companies in the United States and Britain with ransomware and cryptocurrency extortion attacks. Using tactics including social engineering, the group breached more than 120 corporate networks and forced at least 47 U.S. companies to pay as much as $115 million in ransom.
