US Crypto Industry Supports 34,000 Jobs, $55 Billion in Output
The US cryptocurrency industry has expanded beyond token trading into a broader network spanning exchanges, custody, payments, infrastructure and compliance services. A report funded by the NCA seeks to quantify that footprint through employment and economic output, providing policymakers with data as they weigh regulation, investment and the country’s competitiveness in digital assets.
The latest NCA-funded report found that the crypto industry directly employs about 34,000 people in the United States. It also estimated that the sector could contribute as much as $55 billion to the US economy in 2026, underscoring that digital-asset activity now has measurable effects on jobs and output beyond cryptocurrency markets themselves.
