Adobe Executive Departures Hit Shares as Doubled AI Product Revenue Fails to Ease Concerns
Adobe dominates the creative software market with Photoshop and Creative Cloud, but the rise of Canva and AI-native imaging tools has fueled investor concerns that generative AI could erode its subscription advantage. Chief Executive Shantanu Narayen, who has led Adobe for more than 18 years, announced in March 2026 that he would step down once a successor was chosen. The chief financial officer's subsequent departure has added to uncertainty over the company's leadership.
Adobe reported fiscal second-quarter 2026 results on June 11, 2026, for the period ended May 29. Revenue rose 13% from a year earlier to $6.62 billion, while revenue from generative AI products doubled. The company also raised its full-year revenue forecast to $26.5 billion–$26.6 billion. Dan Durn will leave on June 15 to become chief financial officer of Marvell Technology, and the news still sent Adobe shares down about 6% in after-hours trading.
