Galaxy, BNY Pair Digital-Asset Custody With Staking

BNY was the first U.S. global systemically important bank to offer regulated digital-asset custody, launching its platform in 2022, while Galaxy has built institutional infrastructure for validating proof-of-stake networks. Their collaboration matters because many large investors want staking rewards without moving assets outside the governance, operational controls and resilience standards expected from a traditional custodian.

Galaxy and BNY announced the strategic collaboration on Aug. 4, 2026. Galaxy will provide staking support for BNY’s Digital Asset Custody platform, combining custody and staking within a single institutional servicing model, and will also serve as a design partner for BNY’s broader digital-asset platform infrastructure. The companies did not disclose financial terms, supported tokens or a commercial launch date.
