Standard Chartered Predicts Ether Will Outperform Bitcoin

2 reports · First detected 2026-06-02 · Last active 2026-06-03

Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has held Bitcoin as a treasury asset since 2020 and now owns 843,706 tokens worth about $58 billion. Geoffrey Kendrick, Standard Chartered’s head of digital assets research, says Bitcoin treasury companies may have to sell assets to meet obligations. Ether, by contrast, can generate yield through staking, putting the difference in financial resilience between the two types of companies in the market spotlight.

Strategy disclosed on June 1, 2026, that it sold 32 Bitcoin in late May for about $2.5 million, its first sale since 2022. It still held 843,706 tokens afterward. Kendrick said on June 2 that the ETH-BTC ratio was about 0.028 and forecast it would rise to 0.040 by the end of 2026, implying that Ether could outperform Bitcoin by more than 40%.
