NVIDIA Earnings Fuel Taiwan Stock Rally, Lift Taiwan Dollar Back to NT$31.5

1 reports · First detected 2026-05-21 · Last active 2026-05-21

Strong earnings from NVIDIA boosted confidence in global technology stocks and eased risk aversion. As the leader in artificial intelligence chips, NVIDIA has close ties to Taiwan's supply chain. Its upbeat results quickly drew international capital back into Taiwanese equities and moved the Taiwan dollar.

After the earnings release, the Taiwan Stock Exchange Weighted Index staged a sharp rebound on the 21st, surging more than 1,000 points intraday. Foreign capital inflows also strengthened the Taiwan dollar against the U.S. dollar, with the currency closing back at around NT$31.5 per U.S. dollar. The simultaneous gains in stocks and the currency reflected a marked recovery in risk appetite.
