Foxconn Buys California Site to Expand AI Manufacturing

Foxconn, formally Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., is a major manufacturing partner for Nvidia’s AI servers. Sustained demand for Nvidia’s GB-series platforms is increasing the need for rack assembly, liquid-cooling and testing capacity. The California acquisition strengthens Foxconn’s localized U.S. manufacturing footprint and could shorten delivery chains for North American customers, though the company described the purchase only as serving operational needs.

Hon Hai said on Aug. 26, 2026, that wholly owned Q-Edge Corporation acquired land and factory facilities in Santa Clara, California, for $55.25 million, equivalent to about NT$1.76 billion. The announcement followed a $188 million capital injection into Q-Edge disclosed a week earlier. The combined moves are widely seen as positioning Foxconn to expand U.S. capacity for AI-related products as longer-term demand for Nvidia’s GB platforms builds.
