Kroger Expands Fold Bitcoin Gift Cards Nationwide
Bitcoin gift cards package the cryptocurrency in a familiar retail format, reducing the need for buyers to navigate exchanges, private keys or on-chain transfers before making a purchase. Kroger’s partnership with bitcoin payments and rewards company Fold brings the asset into mainstream grocery retail, allowing consumers to buy or give bitcoin much like a conventional gift card while leaving redemption and asset management to Fold’s mobile app.
Kroger said in August 2026 that it would expand Fold Bitcoin Gift Cards across its U.S. stores and online channels following a successful pilot program. The cards are available in denominations ranging from $25 to $500. Customers do not need to set up a cryptocurrency wallet before buying one, while recipients can redeem the value through the Fold App and use the application to hold and manage the bitcoin.
