Fanuc to Invest $90 Million in New U.S. Plant as Physical AI Robot Demand Grows
Japan's Fanuc is one of the world's leading manufacturers of industrial robots and factory automation equipment. North American manufacturers have accelerated the adoption of AI, computer vision and autonomous control technologies in recent years, driving demand for physical AI robots. Expanding local production in the United States could shorten delivery times and strengthen supply-chain resilience.
Fanuc said it would invest 14.3 billion yen, or about $90 million, to build a new plant in Michigan, with completion expected by the end of 2027. The facility will expand industrial robot production capacity to meet growing demand from the North American automotive, logistics and general manufacturing sectors for AI-integrated robots and automation solutions.
