Bitcoin Financing Mechanism Passes First Stress Test as Investor Confidence Returns
Bitcoin preferred-stock financing instruments issued by companies such as MicroStrategy are a financial innovation that combines fixed income with corporate bitcoin treasury strategies. They are designed to help companies raise funds to buy more bitcoin while providing investors with steady distributions. Because these instruments typically trade near their $100 par value, they are often pledged as collateral for leveraged borrowing, making their stability critical to the digital credit market.
According to a July 2026 report from BitcoinTreasuries, the financing mechanism was tested in June, when STRC shares plunged as low as $82.5 and triggered a wave of forced liquidations. STRC subsequently recovered to $85 as the issuer continued making distributions as usual, allowing the mechanism to pass its first stress test. Data showed that institutional investors increased their net bitcoin holdings by 110,000 coins in the second quarter of 2026, indicating that confidence in digital credit was gradually returning.
