AI Agent Preference Test Picks Bitcoin as Top Store of Value, Far Ahead of Fiat

1 reports · First detected 2026-03-04 · Last active 2026-03-04

The Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) simulated monetary choices by AI agents to assess model preferences in scenarios involving stores of value, payments and cross-border transfers. The test suggests that future decisions by AI systems autonomously allocating assets or executing transactions could affect demand for Bitcoin, fiat currencies and stablecoins.

BPI tested 36 AI models, with nearly half choosing Bitcoin first from options including Bitcoin and the U.S. dollar. Support for Bitcoin rose to 79.1% in long-term value-preservation scenarios. Anthropic’s models showed the strongest preference, though stablecoins remained dominant for payments and cross-border transfers. The data did not disclose the test date or transaction amounts.
