Amazon Acquires Fauna Robotics to Expand Humanoid-Robot Push

Fauna Robotics was founded in New York in February 2024 by former Meta and Google engineers to develop approachable humanoid robots for nonindustrial settings such as homes and schools. Amazon has already deployed more than 1 million robots in its warehouses, but the Fauna acquisition extends its focus beyond logistics automation into the consumer market and adds a physical-interaction channel alongside Alexa.

Amazon confirmed the acquisition on March 24, 2026, without disclosing the transaction value. Fauna’s two founders and roughly 50 employees will join Amazon in New York. Sprout, unveiled in January, stands 107 centimeters tall, weighs about 23 kilograms and costs $50,000. Units have already been delivered to research and development partners including Disney. Fauna will continue selling the Creator Edition and supporting existing customers after the acquisition.
