AMD CEO Lisa Su to Visit Samsung’s Pyeongtaek Plant for Broader AI Chip and Memory Talks

AMD is a major global supplier of CPUs, GPUs and AI accelerators, while Samsung Electronics operates across both semiconductor foundry services and HBM memory. Deeper cooperation could bolster the resilience of AMD’s AI chip supply and help Samsung secure high-performance computing orders from data centers, reducing the risk of advanced semiconductor capacity bottlenecks.

AMD CEO Lisa Su is expected to visit Samsung Electronics’ chip production facilities in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, to discuss expanding the companies’ existing HBM3E supply relationship to include HBM4, next-generation processors and foundry services. The companies have signed a memorandum of understanding on memory cooperation, but reports have not disclosed the exact date of the visit, the value of any orders or the foundry process node involved. A timetable for mass production has yet to be formally announced.
