Qualcomm Technology Leader Alex Katouzian Joins Intel to Lead Physical AI and PC Business
Intel is integrating its traditional PC processor business with “physical AI,” which encompasses robotics, autonomous machines and other on-device AI systems. As Qualcomm pushes into AI PCs with its Snapdragon X series, hiring an executive experienced in mobile chips, PCs and edge devices could help Intel reshape its product roadmap and improve execution.
Intel announced on May 4, 2026, that Alex Katouzian would become executive vice president and general manager of its Client Computing and Physical AI Group. He will report directly to CEO Lip-Bu Tan and take up the role during May. Katouzian spent more than 20 years at Qualcomm Technologies, most recently overseeing mobile, computing, XR, wearables and personal AI. Intel did not disclose his compensation or any transaction value related to the appointment.
