Ethereum Layer 2 MegaETH Sets April 30 TGE With KPI-Based Tokenomics
MegaETH is a Layer 2 network backed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin that targets 100,000 transactions per second with extremely low latency, positioning itself as a real-time blockchain. Its MEGA token uses an onchain KPI-based unlocking system under which tokens are released only when network performance targets are met, aiming to ease concerns about selling pressure from concentrated token unlocks.
MegaETH said it would hold its token generation event on April 30, 2026, with MEGA listing simultaneously on six exchanges. The team said the first onchain KPI had already been achieved, allowing eligible tokens to unlock. Unlike traditional schedules based on fixed dates, the new model ties the pace of unlocks to actual operating performance. MegaETH has not disclosed the value of the issuance.
