Google Completes $32 Billion Acquisition of Cloud Security Firm Wiz
Wiz is a New York-based cloud and AI security platform that helps companies identify risks across multicloud environments including Google Cloud, AWS and Microsoft Azure. Google announced the $32 billion all-cash acquisition on March 18, 2025. The deal surpassed its $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility in 2012 to become the largest acquisition in Google’s history, underscoring rising demand for cloud protection as AI computing expands.
Google announced the completion of the transaction on March 11, 2026, formally bringing Wiz into Google Cloud. The publicly disclosed deal value remains $32 billion, while Alphabet’s financial statements list an adjusted purchase price of $29.5 billion. Wiz will retain its brand and multicloud support. The companies will combine AI-powered threat detection with data and application protection to strengthen security management across enterprise cloud environments and AI workloads.
