Taiwan FSC Moves Shareholder Proxy Filings Online
The solicitation of shareholder-meeting proxies involves voting rights and corporate governance, but most related documents are currently submitted on paper. Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission has amended its proxy rules to advance the digitalization of shareholder services in line with the Electronic Signatures Act. The regulator also aims to reduce administrative costs and paper consumption.
The FSC has issued advance notice of the amendments, under which all materials related to shareholder-meeting proxy solicitations are expected to be filed electronically from March 1, 2027, replacing paper submissions. The new system is estimated to cover 3,190 companies, streamline document transmission and support energy conservation and carbon-reduction goals.
