Megapot Launches Blockchain Charity Lottery to Fund Ethereum Developers

Ethereum is a key foundation for DeFi, NFTs and onchain transactions, but the core developers who maintain its protocol have long faced a shortage of stable funding. Independent funding organization Protocol Guild has distributed about $38 million to contributors since 2022 and estimates that maintaining and scaling the network requires $30 million–$60 million a year.

On May 28, 2026, decentralized lottery protocol Megapot announced a programmable charity lottery with Protocol Guild. Players who buy tickets for daily drawings through a dedicated portal can compete for a prize pool of more than $1.1 million. Smart contracts will automatically distribute 100% of the referral fees generated by ticket sales to Ethereum developers supported by Protocol Guild.
