eToro Leads Extended Funding Round to Advance DeFi Push

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-03 · Last active 2026-07-03

Perpetual contracts have no expiry date and are a key leveraged derivative in crypto markets. Extended, founded by former members of Revolut’s crypto team, specializes in onchain trading. On April 15, 2026, eToro announced its acquisition of self-custody wallet Zengo in a deal valued at about $70 million, signaling that digital brokerages are using wallets and DeFi infrastructure to connect traditional investment services with decentralized finance.

On July 2, 2026, eToro announced that it had led a $12.5 million strategic funding round for Extended, with Jump Crypto and Alber Blanc also participating. The companies will integrate Extended’s perpetual-contract engine into Zengo, allowing users to retain control of their assets while trading onchain derivatives. eToro also plans to gradually offer more DeFi products to users of its core platform.
