Taiwan Cooperative Bank Launches Green Leasing Plan to Support Corporate ESG Goals
Taiwan Cooperative Bank has introduced a “green leasing” service aimed at helping corporate tenants secure renewable electricity and renewable energy certificates as pressure grows to cut emissions and meet ESG targets. Under the model, the financial institution acts as the power purchaser and allocates renewable energy flexibly among participating tenants, reducing the cost and administrative burden companies would otherwise face when arranging supplies independently.
The bank is using its Ximen office building as the first demonstration site, enabling tenants to obtain renewable power and certificates through their leasing arrangements and incorporate the resulting emissions reductions into sustainability management. The report did not disclose a launch date, investment amount, contracted generation capacity or certificate volume. The initiative’s impact will depend on tenant participation and whether the model is extended to additional properties.
