FCA Names India, UAE Attachés to Expand Regional Reach

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-17 · Last active 2026-08-17

The Financial Conduct Authority oversees conduct across Britain’s financial sector and increasingly relies on cooperation with overseas regulators as capital, fintech and wholesale markets become more interconnected. India and the United Arab Emirates are major gateways to South Asia and the Middle East. Posting officials in those markets should give the FCA closer links with local authorities, improve information sharing and help it identify cross-border risks earlier while supporting the UK’s international financial-services relationships.

The FCA said on Aug. 18, 2026, that supervisory leaders Sabina Saini and Darine Obeid would become its new attachés in India and the United Arab Emirates, respectively. The two appointees will serve as points of contact with regulators and financial-market participants, expanding the watchdog’s presence across Asia and the Middle East. The announcement covered two appointments and did not disclose additional spending, deployment dates or numerical targets for the initiative.
