WebX 2026 to Open in Tokyo in July, Spotlighting Web3-TradFi Convergence
WebX, organized by Japanese crypto media outlet CoinPost, is an Asian Web3 conference that brings together digital-asset companies, policymakers and traditional financial institutions. As Japan advances reforms to the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act and brings crypto assets into a clearer compliance framework, the industry is watching whether the regulatory changes can spur the integration of capital and technology.
WebX 2026 is set to open in Tokyo on July 13, 2026, and has recently expanded its roster of global speakers and sponsors. The agenda will focus on the convergence of Web3 and traditional finance, Japan's new policies and the entry of financial institutions into the sector. Related reforms under consideration would also lower the tax rate on crypto-asset income to 20%.

The history behind this eventWebX 2026 Draws 13,641 as Japan Expands Web3 Influence
WebX has emerged as a flagship gathering for Japan’s Web3 industry, bringing together policymakers, financial institutions, technology companies and digital-asset developers. Its fourth edition focused on yen-denominated stablecoins, tokenization, artificial intelligence and regulatory frameworks, areas central to Japan’s effort to turn its compliance-first approach into broader institutional and commercial adoption. The conference serves as a barometer for whether the country can translate regulatory clarity into a larger role in global digital finance.
WebX 2026 concluded in Tokyo with 13,641 attendees from more than 90 countries, underscoring the event’s growing international reach. Discussions highlighted three shifts: tokenization moving toward deployment at scale, deeper convergence between AI and Web3, and Japan becoming a more institution-led market. Organizers also said the 2027 conference will relocate to Tokyo Big Sight, formally known as the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, to accommodate an expanded event.
