Expert Examines Challenges in Deploying Industrial AI and the Teams Needed to Win
Industrial AI is moving from model demonstrations to commercial deployment, testing whether companies can integrate data, workflows and customers’ willingness to pay. Lawyer Lin Shang-lun said the traditional 80/20 rule, under which a small number of products generate most revenue, may break down as AI lowers barriers to development. Products that merely organize existing information will still struggle to build a genuine competitive advantage.
In a recent article, Lin argued that successful industrial AI must advance from organizing information to generating new outputs. Commercialization also requires a “golden team” comprising a technical core, domain experts and business talent. The analysis represents an industry perspective; related reports did not identify a specific institution, investment amount, quantitative data or exact publication date.
