Nayax Urges Smarter Payment Points as Unattended Transactions Grow
Unattended payments have expanded beyond low-value vending into electric-vehicle charging, parking, laundromats, kiosks and round-the-clock automated retail. Lynda Clarke, Nayax’s UK general manager, says higher transaction values and rising customer expectations are turning the payment point into critical operating infrastructure. Operators increasingly need secure authentication, reliable connectivity, remote management and data tools that support compliance, equipment uptime and a consistent customer experience.
In an interview published by CoinsPaid Media on June 29, 2026, Clarke said 95% of pay vending machines in Britain now support cashless transactions, while the average UK consumer made 14 contactless payments a month in 2025. The Financial Conduct Authority’s March 2026 decision to remove the £100 contactless cap increased the need for terminals that can securely process larger purchases, including PIN verification where required. Britain has about 73,000 public EV charge points and needs at least 300,000 by 2030, she added.
