Uber Adds Expedia Hotel Bookings in Super-App Push
Uber is expanding beyond ride-hailing and food delivery as it seeks to build a one-stop “super app” spanning transportation, meals and travel. Adding accommodation, a major component of trip planning and spending, could increase the time customers spend in the app and create more opportunities for cross-selling. The strategy may also help Uber secure its position as a consumer gateway before AI agents reshape how people search for and purchase services.
Uber has announced a partnership with global travel platform Expedia to integrate hotel bookings directly into the Uber app. The addition puts three core consumer activities — rides, food delivery and accommodation reservations — within a single interface. The deal marks Uber’s latest step away from a narrowly focused mobility service toward a broader platform, using Expedia’s travel reach to deepen customer engagement and capture more spending across a traveler’s journey.
