As of July 20, 2026, Meta was planning to launch a new AI model led by Alexandr Wang under a hybrid approach that would partially open-source the model while keeping its core technology closed. The strategy is intended to reduce the risk of competitors replicating key capabilities. The model's name, release date, parameter count and related investment have not yet been disclosed.
