HSBC Taiwan Launches Designated-Contact Alerts for Large Branch Transactions
Financial scams often pressure victims into sending or withdrawing large sums at bank branches, leaving institutions with a narrow window to stop or trace the funds. HSBC Bank (Taiwan) is adding a trusted third party to that defense by allowing customers to nominate a contact for transaction alerts, supplementing existing customer verification and risk-monitoring controls. The initiative is the first such service introduced by a foreign bank in Taiwan.
Under the new designated-contact service, HSBC Taiwan will send an immediate text message to the nominated person after a qualifying large remittance or cash withdrawal is completed at a branch. The bank is pairing the alerts with AI-based big-data monitoring and a digital confirmation process through the HSBC Card+ App, creating multiple checks around higher-risk transactions. The available report did not specify the qualifying transaction amount or an exact launch date.
