LG Trains Wheeled CLOiD Robot for the Home

Household robotics is shifting from staged demonstrations toward AI assistants designed to operate in unpredictable residential settings. LG is drawing on its appliances, sensors and smart-home ecosystem to enter the race. The central challenge is not merely building a machine that can move and handle objects, but training it to understand varied homes, adapt to changing conditions and perform useful chores safely.

LG has unveiled CLOiD, a wheeled household robot, and is using hundreds of units in real homes to gather training data for a robotics foundation model. The approach is intended to help the system generalize across different layouts and domestic tasks. With companies including 1X also working to bring robot assistants to market, major technology groups are accelerating efforts to turn the long-promised AI butler into an everyday product.
