Intel Nova Lake-S Chip Leaks With New LGA 1954 Socket and Up to 52 Cores
Intel desktop motherboard compatibility is typically determined by socket generation. Nova Lake-S is set to succeed the company's current lineup and switch to LGA 1954, meaning existing motherboards cannot be reused directly. A configuration of up to 52 cores and integrated graphics based on the Xe3 architecture also reflects Intel's continued use of multi-chip designs to improve performance and integration.
Recently leaked photographs of a physical Intel Nova Lake-S chip show that the new processor uses the LGA 1954 socket, with its alignment notches positioned in the opposite orientation from the previous generation. This further confirms that a new generation of motherboards will be required. The product is expected to launch in early 2027, with the flagship model offering up to 52 cores across two compute dies and integrated Xe3 graphics.
