LG, Qualcomm Unveil 6G- and AI-Powered Software-Defined Vehicle Technology
LG Electronics and Qualcomm are deepening their automotive technology partnership by integrating 6G connectivity, generative AI and high-performance computing into vehicles, allowing features to be continuously upgraded through software updates and cloud services. The initiative could shape industry leadership in software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and AI-defined vehicles (AIDVs), while influencing the development of in-vehicle entertainment, telematics and commercial-vehicle digitalization.
During Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC 2026), LG Electronics and Qualcomm announced an expanded partnership to develop telematics technology combining 6G and AI, and showcased a high-performance automotive computing device equipped with generative AI. The companies are also bringing LG's webOS platform to commercial electric vehicles, extending in-vehicle content and service offerings. No production timeline, partnership scale or investment amount has been disclosed.
