Trump Media Rethinks Crypto Treasury After $238 Million Q2 Loss

3 reports · First detected 2026-08-11 · Last active 2026-08-11

Trump Media & Technology Group, the operator of Truth Social and a company closely associated with U.S. President Donald Trump, has expanded beyond its social-media business by placing bitcoin and other digital assets on its balance sheet. The move has made the company’s financial results increasingly sensitive to crypto-market swings, adding valuation risk to a business already under scrutiny for its operating performance and evolving treasury strategy.

TMTG reported a second-quarter net loss of $238.1 million, more than 10 times the year-earlier deficit, largely reflecting unrealized markdowns on digital assets as cryptocurrency prices declined. Crypto-related losses totaled about $360 million for the first half. As of June 30, the company held 9,477.16 bitcoin with a fair value of roughly $557.1 million. It is now preparing to revamp its crypto treasury strategy following the quarterly loss.
