Modular Releases Mojo 1.0 With Stronger Memory Safety
Modular developed Mojo as a programming language combining high performance with a more accessible, modern syntax for applications that require close control of hardware. The release of Mojo 1.0 marks its first stable version, establishing a firmer foundation for syntax and type behavior. That milestone is important for developers weighing production use, because a stable language interface can reduce migration risks and give libraries, tools and the broader ecosystem a more dependable target.
Modular’s latest release strengthens memory-safety diagnostics, including the ability to identify invalidated references before they create harder-to-trace failures. Mojo 1.0 also improves the reliability of development tools and editor integrations. The company said future releases are expected to add capabilities including asynchronous programming, while the compiler and toolchain are scheduled to become open source in 2026, a step that could broaden outside participation and give developers greater visibility into the language’s implementation.
