Standard Chartered Reportedly Plans Full Takeover of Zodia Custody

Zodia Custody is a Standard Chartered-backed crypto custodian that primarily safeguards digital assets for institutional clients. Taking full ownership and bringing the business into the bank would signal that traditional financial institutions increasingly view crypto custody as a core service needed to meet competitive pressures and client demand.

Standard Chartered is considering acquiring the remaining stake in Zodia Custody and folding its core custody business into the digital assets division of its Corporate & Investment Banking unit, Bloomberg reported. The acquisition and restructuring could be announced as early as July 2026. The transaction value and final terms have not been disclosed.
