Nvidia Taps Wall Street to Fund Next Phase of AI Boom
Nvidia’s dominance in GPUs, CUDA software and full-stack AI systems has placed it at the center of generative AI infrastructure. As the industry shifts from one-off chip purchases to capital-intensive “AI factories,” access to financing and the residual value of computing equipment have become constraints. Nvidia is now seeking to turn compute into an investable infrastructure asset that can support long-duration, usage-linked revenue, broadening the market for its hardware while deepening adoption of its software ecosystem.
On Aug. 10, 2026, Nvidia announced memorandums of understanding with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR to establish independent financing platforms designed to mobilize more than $500 billion in third-party capital over time. The financial institutions will underwrite projects independently, while Nvidia may provide residual-value support covering as much as 25% of an opportunity on a case-by-case basis. The partnerships remain subject to final agreements.

The history behind this eventNvidia Broadens AI Platform Strategy as Hyperscalers Build Their Own Chips
Hyperscale cloud providers are accelerating development of in-house AI processors to reduce their dependence on Nvidia’s GPUs, threatening the chipmaker’s market share, pricing power and valuation narrative. Chief Executive Jensen Huang is seeking to reposition Nvidia from a largely chip-focused supplier into a broader AI systems platform spanning computing hardware, infrastructure and financing, while diversifying revenue beyond a small group of major cloud customers.
Nvidia’s latest approach includes SPCX transactions and GPU financing programs designed to help customers acquire AI computing capacity and broaden adoption outside the hyperscaler market. The initiatives signal a shift toward enabling and financing complete AI infrastructure rather than relying mainly on accelerator sales. The related report did not disclose transaction values, the size of the financing programs or specific launch and completion dates.
