Samsung Launches Galaxy Card With Barclays, Visa to Challenge Apple
Apple’s 2019 launch of Apple Card showed how a technology company could use financial services to deepen customer ties by embedding payments, rewards and account tools in a mobile wallet. Samsung Electronics is now adopting that strategy for its Galaxy ecosystem, partnering with Barclays US Consumer Bank and Visa as it seeks a larger role in the competitive US digital-payments and consumer-finance markets.
Samsung unveiled its first US co-branded credit card on July 20, 2026, with applications opening July 22. The no-annual-fee Samsung Galaxy Card offers 5% cash rewards on eligible Samsung purchases, 3% through Samsung Wallet, 2% on eligible streaming services and 1% elsewhere. New cardholders can earn $200 after spending $2,000 within 90 days. Users can apply, track spending, manage accounts and redeem rewards in Samsung Wallet, while choosing a virtual card or black metal physical card.
